The Alaska salmon fishery is sustainable and well-managed by the Department of Fish & Game. Our salmon are legally harvested by state permitted fishers. The Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission governs the issuance of a limited number of permits in the Bristol Bay fishery. The State of Alaska has received high marks for its commercial salmon fisheries management by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), and has been certified as sustainable. The Alaska salmon fishery is the only salmon fishery in the world to be certified as meeting these strict standards.
